SINGAPORE — Singapore Sports Hub marked its first day under the new management with a series of events and community activities that will run through January to commemorate the official handover to the new entity, Kallang Alive Sport Management (KASM).

The public can look forward to a host of community events and festive celebrations throughout the coming month, including Fifa World Cup live match screenings, sports tryouts, live music performances and ongoing sports competitions.

Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, officiated the Christmas light-up at the Sports Hub’s OCBC Square on Friday (9 December).

He said, “This sporting and lifestyle facility is for all of us in Singapore, and we will have activities and programs at this iconic Hub, which can bring the community together.

“I have every confidence in the new team that has been formed, to build on the existing foundations and strengthen Singapore’s position as a destination of choice for major international events, and more importantly, create a more vibrant community space that Singaporeans can identify with and feel for.”

New management’s vision of Sports Hub

KASM is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Kallang Alive Holding, which is incorporated by Sport Singapore. It is established to manage the Singapore Sports Hub, which aims to bring to life Singapore’s vision of the Hub as a national icon.

KASM seeks to provide greater access to the broader community through inclusive programming and expand the Singapore Sports Hub’s breadth and quality of world-class events. It will also enable the integration of Singapore Sports Hub facilities with the rest of the Kallang Alive precinct to deliver a seamless experience for Singaporeans and all visitors.

Its chairman Keith Magnus said, “The government has cast a bold and powerful vision for the Kallang Alive precinct in Singapore to be the premier sports, entertainment and lifestyle destination in the region, and critically too, a part of the national fabric and hearts of Singaporeans from all walks of life.

“I am excited about the team we are building to execute on the vision and the tremendous opportunities that lie ahead for Kallang Alive. We look forward to working closely with our partners to make this a truly remarkable destination for all Singaporeans, residents and visitors.”
