Interviews have been set for 3 finalists picked for Northern State University’s director of athletics.
Each will visit Northern for interviews with the initial on Thursday and subsequent interviews on March 7 and March 8.
Candidates are:
- Gavin Viano, director of athletics at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., interviewing Thursday.
- Nate Davis, senior associate director of athletics for Pittsburg Point out College in Kansas. interviewing March 7
- Andrew Carter, director of athletics at Minot Condition University in North Dakota., interviewing March 8
Candidates will meet with various constituent teams in the course of the interviews.
Gavin Viano
Prior to his placement as director of athletics at Wheaton College, Viano was associate athletic director/director of advancement at Davidson University in North Carolina senior managing director of athletic fundraising at Dartmouth School in New Hampshire director of athletic enhancement at Drexel College in Pennsylvania development officer, athletics, for Fordham University in New York assistant director of athletic improvement for St. John’s University in New York and assistant director, Clark Fund, and recruiting coordinator/assistant coach at Clark College in Massachusetts.
Viano obtained his bachelor’s degree from Clark College, a master’s in sport administration from Drexel University and a certification from the Sports activities Administration Institute, co-sponsored by the College of Michigan and the University of Texas.
Nate Davis
Prior to is position as senior associate director of athletics at Pittsburg, Davis served as affiliate athletic director and assistant athletic director for promoting, marketing and licensing at Northwest Missouri Point out University operations and profits supervisor at West Texas Golfing Autos assistant athletic director for functions at Abilene Christian University in Texas and assistant athletic director for functions at Southwest Baptist College in Missouri.
Davis gained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southwest Baptist College.
Andrew Carter
Prior to his position as director of athletics at Minot, Carter was director of athletics for Northwestern Oklahoma Condition College, director of athletics for Armstrong Atlantic State University in Georgia, vice president of intercollegiate athletics for Newberry University in South Carolina and director of athletics for Missouri Baptist College in St. Louis.
Carter attended East Central University in Union, Mo. received his bachelor’s diploma from Missouri Baptist University and earned his master’s from Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Mo.
The prospect selected as Northern’s new director of athletics will swap Josh Moon, who resigned in July 2021 right after 9 several years to settle for the same function at the NCAA Division I University of Wisconsin-Environmentally friendly Bay. Moon was only the fourth man or woman to serve as Northern’s director of athletics since 1956, preceded by Clark Swisher, James Kretchman and Bob Olson.
This is the 2nd round of candidate interviews declared for the task. Northern announced interviews with 3 candidates in September, but suspended that search two months afterwards.
